Cedar Lewisohn Lecture

Today we had a guest lecturer in to talk to us. Today's Lecturer was Cedar Lewisohn who is a curator and has wrote books about Graffiti art. Cedar talked about his work. This wasn't my thing and I sometimes found myself not paying attention so when I did pay attention I got a little confused, however I did manage to get some notes about his work and some quotes.

  • Rings Of Saturn - 2005 - Was the first exhibit he worked on
  • Dali & Film - Major Exhibition - About Salvador Dali and incorporation into film - Done at the same time as Rings Of Saturn.
  • The Irresistible Force - Small Scale - Tate Modern - 2006 - About the economy and finance. Cedar made a magazine with all his ideas in it, to give away so that the other two people working on the project could have the budget.
  • Live Events - He invites people from outside the art world to come and speak example Harry Hill
  • As part of a project he had to offer a project - Street Art Boom - He made a film for channel four to go with the book.
  • Home made fanzines - Good practice for the publications he made
  • Diagenes At Late At Tate - 2010
  • Abstract Graffiti - Latest Project - looking at more quirky forms of graffiti
  • Whiteboard Project - When people came in to have meetings with him he got them to draw on his whiteboard, he would then photograph it and put the picture on Facebook - He's hoping to bring it back.
  • The Canals Project - Current Project

Quotes

"Publications can be an exhibition"
"Make the magazine your exhibition"
"Anything can be an exhibitions"
