Tracing the Century: Drawing as a Catalyst for Change
Matt Saunders: Century Rolls
| Press Pass |
When we got there we were told that there were two floors, on the ground floor there was Matt Saunders: Century Rolls exhibition that was linked with the exhibition on the top floor which is Tracing the Century: Drawing as a Catalyst for Change. I went round the exhibition and took some photos with my phone of some shots that I thought that we should get. The shots would be much tighter and framed better if we use them, but these are just Ideas.

Once we looked round we had a meeting so that we could talk about how the rest of the day would go. Because the artist was shy we were asked if we would split up so that only the people needed would be in the room filming the interview with the artist. I was asked to go to the exhibit upstairs and organise everyone up stairs to get he shots that we needed. The upstairs exhibit is pretty big because there are two rooms to it. There were four art students that came with us today, two of them wanted to get some of the shots. They asked me if I could show them what to do. I took them round and showed them the sort of stuff that I would film and explained about angle, reflections and light. I worked with them to get the shot that they wanted. I had to show them how to work the camera, this meant showing them how to zoom, focus, move the camera and get the iris correct. They were both unsure especially when it came to the Iris and they didn't really understand about the zebra stripes so they asked me if I would do that part for them. Even after they got the shot and I told them that they had gotten good shots they still didn't believe me. Before we were leaving I was asked to go back in one of the top floor rooms, with another student to get some more shots of two pieces of work to make sure that we had enough shots of two pieces of the work because they were the works that the curator specifically talked about. This was difficult because someone else was doing an interview with the curator. This meant that we had to be silent and work around them as they were under taking the interview near these pieces of work.
Overall it was a good day, I got to organise what went on upstairs and also help students who had necer handled the camera before and knew nothing about filming. I did really well because I had never taught anyone before, the people I had worked with previously know nearly everything where as these students were art students and hadn't done anything similar before.
