Darren Hayman Lecture

This Morning we had another guest lecturer, Darren Hayman. Here are some notes from the lecture;

  • He likes rules
  • Has a knack for writing songs and everything around that serves it
  • Works from home
  • He gets jealous of artists that are bigger and better
  • Would describe himself as unsuccessful
  • It's useful for us to know that money changes our art in some way - but hes not saying its selling out - it will aid us better.

Quotes
"Being self sufficient with your own creativity is success"

"The idea of writers block and creative blank is scary"

"Be unafraid to let your work be tampered with" - Lesson from art college

"There not going to say yes to the person knocking on the door the loudest, you have to wave but not too hard"

"We want to own what we do"

"We want creative freedom"

Darren Hayman shown us some of the films that he has made

Watching these videos gave me some ideas of what I can do, which I never would have though of before.

In the afternoon me and Sammie went to edit the Tate footage again. Today we concentrated on editing the interview, which is the part that is going to take the most time. There were some arguments because we both had different but in the end we managed to agree and compromise on what we both wanted.
